Good morning, everyone.  Welcome to the week of March 20-24, 2017 at CHHS, where we are Trojans committed to success.

 

Congratulations to the 2017-2018 CHHS Cheerleaders:  Lendon Adamson, Sidney Armstrong, Ariel Barron, Adasia Berry, Virginia Branson, Hannah Broaderway, Haley Carter, Allison Dubose, Ali Ellis, Hannah Huner, Lela Gibson, Abby lee, Mashawn Mathis, Anna Grace Meredith, Lexi Sanders, Gracie Scarbrough, Anna Schrieber, Madison, Shelton, Ava Smolcic, Micah Watson, and Jack Witherington.

 

Senior announcements and keepsakes will be delivered on Friday, April 7th at 9:00 a.m.

Any senior who has not paid-in-full must pay the balance on this date.  If you are not going to be present, please make arrangements for someone to pay the balance (if any) and pick up your order.

 

Students if you took Driver Ed last 9 weeks and passed the road test to receive your "Gold" card please see Coach Keene during fourth block any day this week to sign and receive your "Gold" card.  He will be in his classroom, room #101.

 

High school archery practice this week will be Tuesday and Thursday at TES from 6-7:30 pm.

 

If you are interested in possibly participating in a new program sponsored by the AIM program, come by the office and pick up an application.  This program is sponsored by the Alabama Department of Public Health.  You will have an opportunity to attend a state rally, work on a research paper, do some research investigation, make a video, and work on a new and exciting project.  All applications must be returned by March 24th in order to be considered for the program.

 

If there are any students interested in going to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival on March 23rd, please see one of the English teachers or Ms. J. Park.

 

ACT plus Writing Standard Testing will be given on March 21st to 11th graders only.  All 9th, 10th,  and 12th graders will report to school at 11:30am.   

 

Attention 10th and 11th grade females.  Interested in meeting girls from your county?  Interested in possibly earning scholarship money?  Interested in engaging with your community?  Listen for details for the Distinguished Young Woman of Pike County recruitment meeting coming to your school soon.  Visit www.distinguishedyw.org for information about DYW.

 

Prom is March 24th. Tickets will go on sale February 1st and include the price of your t-shirt. Tickets are $40 per person.  To purchase a ticket, see Ms. Huggins or Mrs. Phillips.

 

The CHHS 5K Fun Run hosted by Interact Club will be April 29, 2017 on the campus of Troy University. The run will begin at 8 am. Registration fee is $20.  All proceeds will benefit the CHHS Fine Arts Department. See Mrs. Worth to register or for more information!

 

The #CHHSReads Book Club is reading THE BOOK THIEF.  Join us Thursday afternoons in Room 202!  Anyone is welcome to join us.

 

Any girl wishing to audition for the 2017 Blue Machine Color Guard should see Mr. Burkett in the band room a break for information and an application.  Auditions are April 17th.

 

Students interested in promoting CHHS and joining the Trojan Pride Team, please see Mrs. Rice in 202.

 

Culinary Arts will be selling cotton candy ($1.00 per bag) and cookies (2 for $1.00) after school each afternoon.

 

Those students who only paid part of their chromebook fee for the year should see Mrs. Rhodes or Mrs. Melton to pay the remainder.

 

Reminders to Students:  Cell phones and ear buds are not allowed in hallways and in the lunch line.  Footwear guidelines prohibit the wearing of slides on campus.

 

 

 

Scholarship Information for Seniors

 

Pike County NAACP Scholarship Applications are now in Mrs. Wright’s office.  Must be a graduating senior with at least a 3.0 GPA, and must enroll in a post-secondary educational institution, college, or vocational school. Applicant must write an essay with a minimum of 500 words and not more than 600 words on the topic : “What is The Role and Purpose of the NAACP?”

 

Seniors, Mrs. Wright has a scholarship application form for the Troy Pilot Club which is for students with a major in service-related field, a "C" average, middle-income family and attending Troy Main Campus.  The deadline is May 10.
