CHHS Weekly Bulletin

Good morning, everyone.  Welcome to the week of April 24-28, 2017 at CHHS, where we are Trojans committed to success.


All past year and current year fees should be paid before the last day of school.  Beginning May 1st, we will NOT accept checks.  All fees paid May 1st and later must be paid by cash or money order.


The Interact Club and Art Guild 5K volunteers will have a meeting on Thursday, April 27th at break in Mrs. Worth's room. 


Anyone who has registered to participate in the 5K Fun Run on Saturday can pick up their Run Packets after school from 3:05- 5:30 on Friday the 28th in Mrs. Worth's room. If you haven't registered and would like to participate, there's still time and a few t-shirts left, see Mrs. Worth for more information! 


All members of the 2017-2018 Color Guard must meet with Mr. Burkett and Ms. Sherri Thursday, April 27th,  at 3:15 after school in the band room to discuss fundraising and uniform fittings.


There will be a free, end of the year, theatre showcase on Tuesday, May 2nd, at 6:00 in the cafetorium. Don't miss your last chance to see group numbers, solos, and scenework performed by your peers!


Volleyball Evaluations will be May 9th and 10th  from 3:30pm until 6:30pm at the Troy Parks and Recreation Gymnasium.  You must have a current physical on file with the athletic department in order to participate.

The 2017 Prom Photo book pre sales are underway and will end on Tuesday, May 2nd. The soft cover book features 20 pages of full color images from this year's prom. The cost is $30. Please see Mrs. Walden or Bethany Balkcom for more information and purchasing.


The Yearbook Signing Day will be on Friday, May 5th at 2:15 in the cafeteria. If you purchased a 2016-2017 yearbook, you will pick it up at this time. You will not receive your yearbook if you have not paid in full.


Summer School Information:  Each course this year will cost $100.  The deadline to pay for summer school is June 5th. Each course must be paid in full by the deadline.  We are not accepting partial payments. Summer School dates are June 5th-22nd (Session 1) and                                     July 10th through July 26 (Session 2).  Monday through Thursdays only (no Fridays) from 8:00a.m to 4:00 p.m.


Join us for a Cinco de Mayo Celebration sponsored by the Spanish Club, Culinary Arts, and the Art Department on Thursday, May 4th, from 6:00- 8:00pm in the CHHS Cafetorium.  There will be a Spanish Immersion Dinner and entertainment.  Tickets are available until May 1st and are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.  See Mrs. Johnson or any member of the Spanish Club for tickets.


Girls’ Basketball Evaluations will be Monday, April 24th – Thursday, April 27th, from 3:15 until 5:15 each afternoon in the CHHS gym.  Anyone interested in playing Girls’ Basketball for CHHS next year should attend the evaluations.


The CHHS 5K Fun Run hosted by Interact Club will be April 29, 2017 on the campus of Troy University. The run will begin at 8 am. Registration fee is $20.  The deadline to register and guarantee your t-shirt is Tuesday, April 18th.  See Mrs. Worth to register or for more information!


The #CHHSReads Book Club is reading THE BOOK THIEF.  Join us Thursday afternoons in Room 202!  Anyone is welcome to join us.


Students interested in promoting CHHS and joining the Trojan Pride Team, please see Mrs. Rice in 202.


Culinary Arts will be selling cotton candy ($1.00 per bag) and cookies (2 for $1.00) after school each afternoon.


Those students who only paid part of their chromebook fee for the year should see Mrs. Rhodes or Mrs. Melton to pay the remainder.


Reminders to Students:  Cell phones and ear buds are not allowed in hallways and in the lunch line.  Footwear guidelines prohibit the wearing of slides on campus.


Scholarship Information for Seniors


Pike County NAACP Scholarship Applications are now in Mrs. Wright’s office.  Must be a graduating senior with at least a 3.0 GPA, and must enroll in a post-secondary educational institution, college, or vocational school. Applicant must write an essay with a minimum of 500 words and not more than 600 words on the topic : “What is The Role and Purpose of the NAACP?”


Seniors, Mrs. Wright has a scholarship application form for the Troy Pilot Club which is for students with a major in service-related field, a "C" average, middle-income family and attending Troy Main Campus.  The deadline is May 10.
